Ashton Security Laboratories provides IT security certification services, security design and engineering consulting, and conducts security research.

ASL IT security certification services include Common Criteria (CC) product certification and FIPS 140 cryptographic testing consulting for all types of products at all assurance levels. We specialize in high assurance products and components that include security critical hardware and firmware, employ multi-level or cross-domain mechanisms, and products that use cryptography and manage keys. (more...)

ASL IT security design and engineering consulting services include:

  • Development of CC evaluation evidence, including Security Targets, from EAL2 to beyond EAL7. (more...)
  • Management of CC product evaluations. (more...)
  • Development of security criteria (Protection Profiles). (more...)
  • Development of FIPS 140 evidence for cryptographic algorithms and cryptographic modules. (more...)

ASL IT security research is currently focused on finding ways to protect the intergrity and confidentiality of code and data running in PCs. This protection is designed to function in the presence of a maliciously corrupted operating system and requires no additional hardware. Our research is funded by the Air Force Research Laboratory at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. We are in Phase II of that research. (more...)

Contact ASL and we will be glad to discuss how we can help you add value to your products with our security services.

A Common Criteria certification is required of IT products in some government markets, both in the US and around the world. In the US today, the Defense department is the primary consumer of CC certified products, but the Department of Homeland Security is expected to adopt similar requirements in the near future and other industries are beginning to recognize the value of a precise description of a product's security attributes and the well-defined sets of assurances that the CC provides.
